Quincy University, a Catholic Franciscan University, houses Franciscan Friars on campus. Their need for new and modern housing led to the construction of two new residential Friary buildings that contain 14 living units. The building scale is in keeping with that of the neighborhood surrounding the campus.
This Friary features shared common spaces such as a Chapel, living and dining, kitchen, and support spaces. The individual living units area accessed through the shared, common spaces to insure the fellowship of the community is maintained.
The architecture of ‘Arts and Craft’ influence, the efficient geothermal mechanical system, the common spaces, and the landscaped garden all foster the Franciscan tradition of respect and care of the earth and everything on it.
