The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter is located on the northeast corner of 5th and Broadway in Quincy.   Approximately 4,000 square feet of the total 10,400 square foot project is renovation and remodeling of an existing building.  The shelter’s close proximity to the Kroc Center and the Salvation Army Thrift Store will centralize all the Salvation Army’s resources in the downtown area on a single street corner.

The facility houses two important functions for The Salvation Army in Quincy.  A family and individual aid service office, which provides assistance to individuals with economic challenges, occurs in one half of the building.  This portion of the complex contains administrative offices, meeting/teaching rooms, a food pantry, and food distribution spaces.  The remainder of the building is emergency housing.  This side of the facility is split into a men’s wing and a women’s wing.  The resident rooms in the women’s wings each contain a private bathroom in anticipation of providing housing to women with children.  The emergency shelter is complimented by a full service kitchen and a large community room.
