Architechnics, Inc has weathered three different developers who intend to renovate the Newcomb Hotel, built in 1888. The intent has been to transform the hotel into a Senior Supportive Living Center with low income one and two bedroom apartments. The Newcomb would serve meals, oversee medication, and provide other services for seniors who qualify. With Medicaid funds a units rent could be as low as $422 per month.
This is a significant building from a historical perspective. When it opened in 1889 it was considered one of the premier luxury hotels in the Midwest. It is still very important to the city of Quincy. It began to receive intrest from developers in 1985.
